Office of Admission launches new, mobile-enabled website

Princeton University's Office of Admission launched a new interactive website on Jan. 5, providing prospective students and others with engaging and useful information about the quality and affordability of a Princeton education.

The mobile-enabled platform offers an intuitive and user-friendly experience for prospective students seeking to learn more about Princeton's academics and financial aid program, as well as clear and concise instructions for students applying to the University. Student life is presented through ambient video, which offers a vivid account of Princeton's liberal arts education, including research, faculty support, student-sponsored activities and the residential college community. Bold infographics provide statistical information in an accessible format.

The website was designed and developed by Bluecadet, an Emmy Award-winning digital agency in Philadelphia.

"Our goal was to design a visually dynamic website that conveys important information about Princeton in an approachable manner," said Janet Lavin Rapelye, dean of admission. "We believe this website showcases Princeton in a fresh, innovative style that is welcoming to all, especially our core audience of high school students and their families."

Other audiences for the website include high school counselors and community-based organizations that offer guidance to students in underserved communities. The launch comes at the start of the new recruiting cycle.

In 2016, the Admission website received visitors from more than 180 countries, and approximately 25 percent of all visitors accessed the website via mobile device. A selection of the website's content is available in Spanish, and the website's student-led virtual tour, produced by YouVisit, is available in English, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish.

Some design elements on the website were inspired by the Office of Admission's new Viewbook, its signature print publication. The Viewbook was redesigned with the Office of Communications in August 2016 similarly to showcase the Princeton experience in an engaging and welcoming manner.
