A variety of campus organizations have been involved in fund-raising efforts to provide aid to countries affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami.

A coalition of student groups called Princeton Tsunami Relief is collecting donations daily at the 100 level of the Frist Campus Center, residential college dining halls and eating clubs. Donations will benefit the International Rescue Committee and CARE USA, which are providing food, water-purification and medical supplies, shelter materials and other emergency supplies to the affected areas.

In conjunction with the Department of Athletics, Princeton Tsunami Relief also is organizing a fund-raising drive at the men's basketball game against Haverford at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Jadwin Gym. Fans who donate $10 or more will receive free tickets and a free snack at the concession stand. For more information on the ticket promotion, contact Brie Galicinao.

In addition to the fund-raising efforts, the Religious Life Council sponsored an interfaith vigil, "One Human Family," on Thursday, Jan. 13, in the University Chapel.

On Saturday, Jan. 8, Princeton Tsunami Relief sponsored a fund-raising event at Frist, which included informational tables on the areas and people affected by the Dec. 26 tragedy, relief efforts and photos and video footage from the disaster. The event also featured live entertainment and a panel discussion on the disaster that included faculty members Stephen Macedo, director of the University Center for Human Values, and John Suppe, professor of geosciences.
