Daniel Posner is a professor of political science and Total Chair on Contemporary Africa at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a cofounder of the Working Group in African Political Economy.His current projects include a survey on education practices in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda; a report for the Kenyan prime minister’s office on the effects of the country’s new constitution; and a study of the distribution of electricity in Kenya. Posner’s most recent book, Coethnicity: Diversity and the Dilemmas of Collective Action (2009), coauthored with James Habyarimana and Macartan Humphreys, employs experimental games to probe the sources of poor public goods provision in ethnically diverse communities.
