Research Clusters

Through its research cluster initiative, PIIRS promotes innovative research by providing substantial funding, usually in combination with significant external support, for mulitple-year, faculty-led projects focused on cutting-edge issues in international studies. Cluster initiatives seek to incubate new ideas in emerging fields and to encourage novel combinations of existing disciplines by providing opportunities for faculty to pursue their research and by supporting a series of seminars and conferences that engaged the wider scholarly community. Beginning in academic year 2011-12, the cluster program was phased out and superseded by the PIIRS Research Communities initiative.
