- Formal Theory and Quantitative Methods
Jonathan Kastellec studies American politics, with a focus on judicial politics. His current research projects include studying the intersection of collegiality and hierarchy on the U.S. Courts of Appeals, the mechanisms of judicial influence (with a particular focus on the relationship between race and judging), how the Supreme Court learns from lower court conflict, and studying the effects of partisan bias on public opinion about the Supreme Court. His research has appeared in (or is forthcoming in) the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, the Journal of Law, Economics & Organization, and Political Research Quarterly.
