Cedar Grove is a village in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,887 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Cedar Grove was originally settled along the shore of Lake Michigan by Dutch pioneers, and many of their descendants remain in the area today. The village relocated to its present site, about one mile inland, when the railroad came through.

Geography

Cedar Grove is located at 43°34′6″N 87°49′22″W / 43.56833°N 87.82278°W / 43.56833; -87.82278 (43.568213, -87.822915)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.3 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,887 people, 699 households, and 529 families residing in the village. The population density was 917.9 people per square mile (353.7/km²). There were 724 housing units at an average density of 352.2/sq mi (135.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.36% White, 0.05% African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.11% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.65% of the population.

There were 699 households out of which 38.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% were non-families. 21.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.17.
