Frenchboro is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States, and a village within this town located on Long Island in Blue Hill Bay. The population was 38 at the 2000 census.



According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 94.6 square miles (244.9 km²), of which, 4.8 square miles (12.5 km²) of it is land and 89.7 square miles (232.4 km²) of it (94.90%) is water.

Twelve islands in the Gulf of Maine comprise the town:[citation needed]


As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 38 people, 18 households, and 12 families residing in the town. The population density was 7.9 people per square mile (3.1/km²). There were 59 housing units at an average density of 12.3/sq mi (4.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 100.00% White.

There were 18 households out of which 11.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% were married couples living together, and 33.3% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals and none had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.11 and the average family size was 2.50.
