Heard County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created on December 22, 1830. As of 2000, the population was 11,012. The 2007 Census Estimate shows a population of 11,387.[1] The county seat is Franklin.[2]

Heard County is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 301 square miles (779.6 km2), of which 296 square miles (766.6 km2) is land and 5 square miles (12.9 km2) (1.68%) is water.
