Kendale Lakes is a census-designated place (CDP) Miami suburb in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 56,901 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Kendale Lakes is located at 25°42′30″N 80°24′42″W / 25.70833°N 80.41167°W / 25.70833; -80.41167 (25.708464, -80.411610)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.6 square miles (22.3 km²), of which, 8.2 square miles (21.2 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²) of it (5.00%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 56,901 people, 18,080 households, and 14,988 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 6,962.4 people per square mile (2,689.1/km²). There were 18,656 housing units at an average density of 2,282.8/sq mi (881.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 86.98% White (18.9% were Non-Hispanic White,)[4] 2.31% African American, 0.13% Native American, 1.90% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 5.07% from other races, and 3.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 76.58% of the population.

Of the 18,080 households, 42.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.6% were married couples living together, 17.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.1% were non-families. 13.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.13 and the average family size was 3.40.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 89.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.2 males.
