Loris is a city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,079 at the 2000 census.



Loris is located at 34°3′32″N 78°53′28″W / 34.05889°N 78.89111°W / 34.05889; -78.89111 (34.058760, -78.891058)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.1 square miles (8.1 km²), of which, 3.1 square miles (8.1 km²) of it is land and 0.32% is water.


As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 2,079 people, 819 households, and 546 families residing in the city. The population density was 668.2 people per square mile (258.1/km²). There were 922 housing units at an average density of 296.3/sq mi (114.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 56.66% White, 40.45% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 1.30% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.69% of the population.
