Travel and Hotel Information

Transportation:

The closest airport is Providence, RI (PVD), and Southwest Airlines serves this airport.  Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS) is also a possibility, but it is roughly 1.5 hours away.  Amtrak has train service to Providence as well.

Lodging:

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Radisson Hotel in Providence.  The hotel is about 1 mile away from Brown University, where the workshop will take place.   We are assuming students will be sharing the rooms (2 people per room).  If you already know someone who is attending the conference with whom you want to share a room, please go ahead and reserve the room together.  Otherwise, please get in touch with Iris Bahar (iris@lems.brown.edu) and we will match you with a roommate.

To reserve a room, please contact the hotel directly at (800) 333-3333 and mention Brown University Engineering to get the especial discounted rate.  Alternatively, you can reserve the room online at http://www.radisson.com/providenceri. When prompted, enter the promo code "ENGINE" and the special rate will come up.  More information about the hotel can be found by emailing them at RHI_PROV@radisson.com  .

Please note that there is a complementary shuttle available to take guests to campus, but seating and frequency of service is limited so it would be best if you planned ahead and left enough time to walk to campus.

For student participants: please note that we have budgeted for 2 nights lodging at the hotel (assuming arrival on Aug. 19 and departure on August 21).  We realize that some students will not be able to fly out the evening of August 21, so it may be possible that an additional night of lodging can be reimbursed to a limited number of attendees.  However, at this point, a 3rd night of lodging expenses cannot be guaranteed.
