~ Handbook: Plagiarism ~

All students are responsible for knowing the "General Requirements for the Acknowledgment of Sources in Academic Work" set forth in the section called "Students and the University" in the booklet Rights, Rules, Responsibilities. The only thing to add here is a comment about the information floating with such apparent freedom around the World Wide Web. Lawyers and judges may disagree about how copyright law applies to the Web, but the laws of English 310 are firm: If you read it elsewhere, or if anyone else anywhere contributed by word or deed, the fact needs to be cited in your work. See Footnotes in this Handbook for forms of citation, or ask your preceptor if you have doubts.
