To install FEMGV you require no special user privileges or disc areas, unless you are using
a hardware security lock (dongle) in which case you will need administrator access for Windows NT.
We suggest that all Femsys Limited software be placed in one ``master'' directory
with separate subdirectories for the various programs. In this document we will
refer to this master directory as c:\Program Files\Femsys
In order to install all or part of the FEMGV software:
D:\nt95\disk1 and double-click SETUP.EXE
Once the installation is complete you will have a directory structure as follows:
C:\Program Files\Femsys
|
|------- Custom
|
|------- Fgv6101
| |
| |------- Bin
| |
| |------- Demo
| |
| |------- Relink
| |
| |------- Documentation
| |
| |----- Html
| |
| |----- Hlp
|
|------- Keyfile
|
|------- Post.Int
C:\Fgv-Work
The exact structure will depend on which installation options you selected. Fgv-Work is the working directory for FEMGV and it will contain your session log (fgvlog.log) together with any temporary files.
The Custom directory should be used to hold your synonym file (fgvsyn.syn), any startup files (fgvstr.str, fgvcmap.str) and your resource file (femsys.ini).
The Html sub-directory may be used in order to store the HTML files for the online documentation. By default these files will be accessed directly from the distribution CD.
Each FEMGV installation will be issued with a program security file known as a keyfile. In general, a keyfile consists of ten lines with each line containing 11 characters.
Your installation kit contains a demonstration keyfile. It is called fgvkey.k60 and can be found in the Keyfile directory. You will need to edit this file using the utility provided in the program group (folder) created by the installation process.
If your version of FEMGV is to be used with a hardware security lock (dongle), the Rainbow Technologies Sentinel System Drivers MUST be installed by running 'setup.exe' in the Sentinel directory. Please note that this process works silently, unless problems are encountered. So, if no errors are reported you should be assume that the installation was successful.
On NT systems installation of the Rainbow Technology Drivers can only be done as 'administrator'. Please note that you will need to reboot the computer after installing these drivers.
The full documentation supplied by Rainbow Technologies is included in 'readme.txt' in the Sentinel directory.
