This command is used to select the FE program environment
in which the generated model will be analysed. Additionally,
if a list of analysis types was defined for this environment,
then a specific analysis type can optionally be selected.
Program_ID: | NEUTRAL | Selects the FEMGEN neutral FE program environment. |
| | This is the default and the loading, material |
| | properties and physical properties commands are |
| | the basic types available. |
| Fe-program | Selects a specific FE program environment |
| | (see notes below). |
Analysis_Type | | Optional analysis type specific to the FE program.
|
The current FE program environment and the analysis type, if specified,
are displayed in the FEMGEN monitor.
Notes:
- 1.
- Specific FE Program Environments
In FEMGV the PROPERTY commands may be customised by
the writers of FE interface programs to define loading
data, material properties data and physical properties data, to be
specific to the requirements and
capabilities of an analysis program. These specific definitions (if any)
will be set up in the FEMGEN interface programs themselves, so
the PROPERTY commands may differ depending on the
FE program environment selected. Documentation on any FE program specific
commands will be contained in the User Manual for the relevant
interface program.
Once environment specific loading, material properties
or physical properties have been applied to a model it is
possible to switch to another environment, but the environment
specific loading etc will be deleted, if the user confirms the
operation. This
is because, by their very nature, definitions specific to one
environment will not be be available in another environment.
If one FE program is used regularly then it is
suggested that the Operating System environment variable `FG_PRE_INT' is
set to the name of the FE package (as seen in the menu). This will select
the specified FE environment each time that FEMGEN is used. Refer to the
Installation and Customisation Guide for details of how to set Operating
System environment variables.
The supported FE program specific environments
also maintain the loading, material properties
and physical properties definitions of the neutral environment. Thus
FE specific environments may understand the neutral environment
commands.
The choice of FE program environments available to the user
will depend on which analysis interface programs have
been licenced.
- 2.
- Analysis Type and Neutral Environment
No analysis type is available in the neutral environment.
- 3.
- Use of Analysis Types
An analysis type can be selected only if it has been defined for
the required environment.
The analysis type may be used to reduce the list of elements,
materials, physical properties and/or loads to those that are
relevant to this analysis type. This partitioning is done in
the interface program.
- 4.
- Analysis Type Names
The FEMGEN monitor will show the full name of the analysis type
selected while the menu, in the command 'PROPERTY FE-PROG',
will prompt with abbreviated names.
The analysis type can also be selected via the environment
variable `FG_PRE_INT' and in this case the full analysis type
name is used. Refer to the interface program manual for
the available analysis types.
- 5.
- Change of Analysis Type
If the analysis type is changed halfway through creating a model,
all element types will be removed and all materials, physical
properties and loads will be deleted, upon confirmation.
Examples:
- 1.
- PROPERTY FE-PROG ABAQUS
Selects the ABAQUS FE program environment.
- 2.
- PROPERTY FE-PROG ASKA
Selects the ASKA FE program environment.
- 3.
- PROPERTY FE-PROG DIANA HEAT2D
Selects the DIANA FE program environment and the analysis
type to be heat two-dimensional.
