CIV 245: Fundamentals of Engineering Statistics
Sections 4.1 through 4.4 of Devore's text. Also, Sections 5.1 and 5.2, which will be covered in class during the first week of March.
Covers lectures through March 9 and the material in Chapters 1 and 2, Chapter 3 except Section 3.5, Chapter 4 except Section 4.5, and Sections 5.1 and 5.2. Focus on class notes and on solutions to homework problems (Homeworks 1 through 4); expect similar kinds of questions on the exam. The class on Wednesday, March 11 will be a problem-review session.
The exam is closed-book, but a single one-sided "cheat sheet" is permitted. You may bring a calculator. Tables will be provided if needed.
From Devore's text, do 12 of the following 16 problems:
- Chapter 4: 2, 4, 22, 30, 36, 40, 42, 56, 58, 60, 62
- Chapter 5: 2, 10, 12, 22, 30
(Again, it's OK to hand in solutions to more than 12 problems, but only the first 12 will be graded, or count in the grade. Solutions will be posted on the website by Monday, March 9).
