The Graduate U-Council

HISTORY

In November of 1999, the U-Council amended its charter to allow graduate students, through the GSG Assembly, the right to elect their own representatives to the Council, and members of the Council's Executive Committee, for the first time. The GSG Assembly also acquired the right to make nominations for the other committees of the U-Council, including the Priorities Committee, which makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees each January on the allocation of the University's operating budget, and the Rights and Rules Committee, which sets codes of conduct for the University and its students, faculty, and administration.

In September 2000, the first elected graduate representatives to the CPUC formed the first Graduate U-Council in order to work together in bringing important policy initiatives impacting graduate students to the CPUC. We brought, and continue to bring, a number of critical issues to the administration's attention, which you can read about on our reports page.
