In another caliper design, each arm is attached to the frame and the cable from the handlebars is modified to pull on each caliper. The cable loop provides for equal force being applied to each caliper arm of the cantilever brake. Friction in the straddle wire yoke will give rise to an out of balance force on the two cantilevers. This may deform the wheel rim and give rise to poor brake performance. These brakes are as susceptible to reduced braking with wet rims as are the caliper brakes.
