Exhaust Valve

The exhaust valve permits the reaction products of the combustion process to be removed from the cylinder during the exhaust stroke of the engine. The valve opens at or before Bottom Dead Center on the work stroke of the engine and remains open until the piston reaches Top Dead Center in the exhaust stroke. The valve remains closed during the inlet and work strokes of the engine.
