Indium Sample

The sample of indium is contained in a test tube. The Hot junction of the Copper-Constantan thermocouple is inside the indium and the test tube and sample are supported by an aluminum holder.

Melt the indium sample, heating it at a controlled rate on the hot-plate. Remove the system from the hot-plate to take a cooling curve measurement. Take care to handle the system using the tongs provided. It may be necessary to hold the thermocouple in place as the system is removed from the plate.
