Mode Switch

This switch may be set to three positions which select a different operational mode for the Motor/Generator in the dynamometer.

In the START position, the battery provides power to the motor/generator and it acts as a starter motor for the engine.

In the Generator position, the motor/generator act as a current/voltage source and its output can be accessed at the Generator Terminals on the dynamometer case and connected to an external load.

In the Dynamometer position, the generator output is applied resistances in the dynamometer case and the electrical work done on these resistors is controlled by the Load Adjust Rheostat. This work is provided by the Transparent Engine.
