Air Inlet
The air enters the engine
from a large tank that is open to the atmosphere. The air flow is measured
at the inlet to the tank which acts to smooth the air flow and permit an average
air flow rate to be determined. The air entering the engine can be
restricted by turning the throttle valve on the inlet manifold. This will reduce
the inlet pressure and reduce the engine power. Normally, the throttle
is used in the fully open position. |
