Editor's Column

With this issue, The North Star completes its third year of publication, having grown from a newsletter (in the style of Randall Burkett's Newsletter of the Afro-American Religious History Group of the American Academy of Religion) to a peer-reviewed journal.  The high quality of the articles and other features is a direct result of the interest and support of scholars in the field of African-American Religious History and I extend my thanks to those who have contributed their time and expertise serving as outside reviewers of manuscripts, book reviewers, and contributing editors.  Our high standing among online journals and research resouces has been recognized in a number of ways.  The North Star was profiled, along with other e-journals, in  "Clio on the Web: An Annotated Bibliography of Select E-Journals for History" in the February 2000 issue of the American Historical Association's newsletter, Perspectives.   The journal has also been awarded an American Academy of Religion research grant.

Please note that the journal will be changing its server location with the Fall 2000 issue.  The new location will be the result of new institutional support and will allow us to begin the process of developing into a larger research site with additional features and a new design.  Check back at this site for new address.  We welcome your suggestions for new directions and, as always, encourage you to submit articles, bibliographies, research materials, and teaching resources.
