Editor's Column

This issue marks the end of the eighth year of publication of The North Star: A Journal of African American Religious History, and my final issue as editor. I am pleased to announce that Yolanda Pierce, of the Department of English and the African American Studies and Research Program at the University of Kentucky, and Anthea Butler, who will join the Department of Religion and Classics at the University of Rochester in September, will take over as co-editors of the journal. My work on this project has been tremedously satisfying and enriching, and I am thrilled to be able to pass it on to two wonderful scholars who take it on with great enthusiasm for the field and energy for the work ahead. I am excited to move on to other projects and to see how the journal develops with its new co-editors and editorial board members.

I want to acknowledge the support of the Dean of the Faculty's office at Vassar College, which made it possible for me to continue this work over the past five years, as well as David Susman in Vassar's Computing and Information Services for his assistance with various technical aspects of the project. The journal has also benefitted from the support in past years of the American Academy of Religion, which facilitated the transition to Vassar College. Most of all, I am grateful to the many colleagues in various fields who have supported the journal by reviewing manuscripts, writing book reviews, submitting articles, and providing general encouragement to continue working on the project these many years.
