· The diagrams illustrate the octahedral (O) and Tetrahedral (T) sites in the face centered cubic crystal structure with a basis of one atom per lattice site. In a three-dimensional array of unit cells, a combination of these sites fill the space. The number of the sites in a unit cell can be determined in the same manner as the number of atoms in the cell, counting fractional contributions when the configuration is in more than one cell.
