Copper-Nickel Alloy, Cupro-nickel
Index
Copper and nickel can form solid solution alloys over the complete concentration range between pure copper and pure nickel. The addition of nickel to the copper matrix increases the alloy melting point. The nickel addition also increases the electrical resistance of the alloy, and alloy wires are used as electrical resistance material. The alloys resist atmospheric corrosion by forming a protective oxide coating.
