| Neon
is an "Inert" gas in group VIIIA of the periodic table with atomic number
10, and an atomic weight of 20.183. The configuration of the atom is:
(1s)2(2s)2(2p)6, with an atomic radius of 0.020nm. Helium forms an fcc solid at low temperatures which has a melting point at - 248.6 C and a density of 1.20. The liquid boils at - 185.8 C. The material is used extensively in discharge tube and laser applications. |
