PMMA, Polymethylmethacrylate
Index
PMMA, polymethyl-methacrylate, is a thermoplastic acrylic linear polymer, the mer of which is illustrated in the diagram. PMMA is transparent, with a refractive index of 1.49, and easily formed into optical components. It is also used as a photoresist material in the fabrication of semiconducting devices.

PMMA has a Young's modulus of 2.9 GPa, UTS of 55 MPa, and a 5% elongation to fracture. Its density is 1.2 Mg/m3. The material softens above 100 C and melts at about 200 C.
