The year was 1965 and the fad, as photographed by UPI, was skating to class. Princetonians who achieved notoriety when this photo appeared in the New York Herald–Tribune were, from left: Hamilton Magill ’66 and ’67ers Christopher Calder, John Bitner, Christopher Cooke, John West, Douglas Kelbaugh, James Millar, and Charles McDowell. According to the paper, Magill and West were picked up by police on Nassau Street for not having front and back lights on their “vehicles.” end of article
