A letter from a reader: Game Theory at Princeton
Nice article about math at Princeton (feature, Nov. 7). I received my Ph.D. at Princeton in 1958. The way we were told the story was that Solomon Lefschetz invented the "N" grade. Albert Tucker *32 was chairman at a later period. Perhaps the facts can no longer be determined.
By the way, there should have been a mention of the period under Tucker and others when Game Theory was strongly developed in Princeton. After all, John von Neumann, Oskar Morgenstern, and John Nash *50 all were key researchers in that field. Ask Harold Kuhn.
And so many other names/fields were left out. I think Math@Princeton deserves another article!
