Free-Range
•The term Free-Range carries a lot more ambiguity then organic or antibiotic free chicken.
•The only USDA criterion for free-range meat is that “they have some form of access to the outdoors*,” however the size of the range or individual space per animal is not a criterion.
•“Access” does not equate to actual roaming outdoors.
•Free Range Chickens are permitted to eat whatever is on the ground in this “outdoor area.”
•Therefore while Free-Range Chicken is noble in its objective, there is no guarantee that the animals are fairly treated or healthier than any other birds.
