What is PACT?

PACT is Princeton's only student organization which promotes cancer awareness, participates in cancer related community service, fundraises for cancer research, keeps students updated about the latest scientific news in cancer research, and supports those members of the Princeton community that have been touched by cancer. Started in 1999 by several Princeton students who noticed the lack of a such an organization, PACT has grown to include over 300 members. Our mission is simple: to prepare the Princeton community for the rising incidence of cancer by arming students with important information about the disease, to harness the resources of the university, mainly its students, in making significant contributions to the cancer world, and to support those whose lives have been affected by this disease. Through on and off campus special events, volunteerism in oncology hospital wards, small panel discussions, mass media awareness, and support groups we hope to be the kind of organization that changes and saves peoples' lives. We believe as anthropologist Margaret Mead said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”
