FACULTY AWARD: MacMillan, Bassler among 2012 Royal Society fellows

Two Princeton University professors are among the noted scientists elected as fellows of the Royal Society in 2012. David MacMillan, the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry and chair of the department, was among 44 scientists around the world to be named a fellow of the Royal Society. Bonnie Bassler, Princeton's Squibb Professor of Molecular Biology, was one of eight researchers named foreign members of the society. Royal Society fellows and foreign members are elected annually from several hundred candidates renowned for their contributions to science, engineering and medicine. The fellowship has existed since 1660 and election to it is lifelong.
