2:40 P.M. NOV. 1 UPDATE: Information on roads, rail, airports, shuttles; events and power

Here is an update on travel conditions at the University, in Princeton and surrounding communities. Conditions are changing hour by hour as utility crews clear roads and restore power, and as travel providers restore service. Please use the links below for the latest information, and use caution and common sense while traveling.

Roads

Highways and major roads leading to the University are open. However, because of lingering power outages, many traffic lights are still out and turn restrictions are in effect.

Hundreds of secondary roads and side streets remain blocked by fallen trees and power lines. Many traffic lights are out of service.

Roads and walkways on campus are clear and open.

Gasoline

Long lines of vehicles are forming at many gas stations in Princeton and surrounding towns. Because of power outages, some stations are closed.

Drivers intending to refuel in the Princeton area should allot extra time to wait to in line.

Airports

The major airports serving Princeton have reopened. Flight schedules are ramping up but have not returned to normal.

These sites have the latest information:

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (JFK, LGA, EWR)
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)

Passengers are strongly advised to check with their airlines for information on specific flights.

Rail

New Jersey Transit rail lines, including the “Dinky” line between Princeton Junction and campus, are out of service. For updates, go to njtransit.com.

Amtrak Northeast Corridor service is disrupted. Check with Amtrak for the latest updates.

SEPTA trains, including regional rail service between Philadelphia and Trenton, are running.

Shuttles and taxis

Until rail service is re-established from the New York metropolitan area, taxis and commercial shuttles are a good option for transportation to campus. Here are shuttle services taking riders to Princeton:

A1 Limo, 609-919-2022
King Limo, 609-951-0444
Olympic Airporter,800-822-9797

Please note: Demand for shuttles is high. Please be patient in trying to reach these services.

Bus

The University's Tiger Transit system has resumed limited operations, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Campus Events

The campus reopened Thursday, and most events were to resume as scheduled, including athetics team practices. The football game Saturday against Penn will be played as scheduled. However, the annual Community and Staff Day has been postponed until Nov. 17.

Note: At the University, power has been restored to normal at most buildings. There are still scattered outages in off-campus locations, including some graduate student housing. For the latest information, visit the Department of Facilities’ “outage” page.
