Wilson School celebrates centennial of Woodrow Wilson's inauguration as U.S. president

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of Woodrow Wilson as the 28th president of the United States, the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs hosted a conversation with Wilson biographer John Milton Cooper Jr., Class of 1961.

Cooper, author of "Woodrow Wilson: A Biography," was interviewed Feb. 21 by Julian Zelizer, a presidential historian who is a professor of history and public affairs at the Wilson School. The event celebrating the centennial of Wilson's inauguration March 4, 1913, was co-sponsored by the Wilson School and the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum.

Cooper's 2009 book was the first major biography of Wilson in almost two decades. He signed copies of the book after the program.

The Wilson School held a dinner that evening in honor of its namesake, with many Wilson admirers attending. They included Bob Enholm, the executive director of the Woodrow Wilson House in Washington, D.C.; Jerry Cox, Class of 1976, and Mike Dickens, Class of 1968, from the board of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum in Staunton, Va.; and community members who have served on Princeton's Woodrow Wilson Centennial Committee.

Wilson was president of Princeton from 1902 to 1910. He was governor of New Jersey before entering the White House for two terms ending in 1921.
