Hilary Parker, senior associate director for administrative planning in the Office of the Executive Vice President at Princeton University, has been named special assistant to the president for strategic initiatives.

The appointment was announced Thursday, Dec. 18, by President Christopher L. Eisgruber, to whom Parker will report. Parker's appointment is effective Jan. 1.

"I'm delighted that Hilary Parker has agreed to become my special assistant for strategic initiatives," Eisgruber said. "Her role as chair of the Administrative Strategic Planning Team, her thorough knowledge of the University, and her proven talent as an administrator and a writer make her spectacularly well qualified for this appointment. She will hit the ground running."

"I am honored to serve the University in this new role," Parker said. "I look forward to working with President Eisgruber and colleagues across campus to advance strategic initiatives in support of the University's mission."

In the Office of the Executive Vice President, Parker has worked closely with Eisgruber and his cabinet to support the University's strategic planning process. She has led a team of more than 30 administrators to coordinate the work of campus task forces and data-gathering efforts. She also has undertaken a variety of projects and initiatives on behalf of the Office of the Executive Vice President, participating in and managing efforts to strengthen the University's operations and enhance campus infrastructure.

In her new role, Parker will work closely with Eisgruber to advance University initiatives that require the president's attention with respect to program design, fundraising and other purposes. She will operate at the nexus of program development, budgeting, fundraising, stewardship and strategic planning.

Parker will continue to support the University's strategic planning process as chair of the Administrative Strategic Planning Team.

Before joining the Office of the Executive Vice President in 2011, Parker held positions in the Office of the Dean for Research and the School of Engineering and Applied Science

Parker earned a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from Princeton in 2001 and also holds a master of arts in teaching degree from The College of New Jersey.
