Postscript Format

The Postscript plotfile created by FEMGV is described below.

The Postscript plotfile option is selected by using the command UTILITY SETUP PLOTTER FORMAT POSTSCRPT described in the User Manual), subsequent uses of the command DRAWING SAVE PLOTFILE will create files which can be output on devices capable of interpreting Postscript programs.

The format of the file obeys the conventions described in Adobe Systems Document Structuring Conventions Version 2.0.

The default is to output the plot as a landscape image on A4 paper.

All lines and text are drawn in black. Postscript is capable of polygon filling in greyscales. The command UTILITY SETUP PLOTTER COLOURS (described in ) can be used to change the number of greyscales for contouring, and for shading. The default is the number of colours available on the current graphics display.

An A5 image can be produced by editing the plotfile and removing (or commenting out by placing a % at the begining of a line) the following

%%BeginProcSet convert_A5_to_A4
%

.
.
.

%
    296.00500 418.64000 translate
      1.52754 1.52754 scale
     90 rotate
   -296.00500 -209.32000 translate
%%EndProcSet

Bounding box information is supplied for the incorporation of the plotfile into a report. Note that if the plotfile is edited to get A5 output the bounding box information needs to be changed from,

%%BoundingBox: 57 67 560 712
to
%%BoundingBox: 97 15 519 345
