Startup Files

Command startup file

The user can maintain a batch command file which will be processed automatically at the start of a FEMGV execution. This file, as well as being used to contain FEMGV commands which set the program into the mode of use required by the user, may also contain at its head the answers to any input prompts that may be made at the start of execution; for example, the choice of graphics display where more than one display is available. An example of a command startup file follows:

1
UTILITY SETUP PLOTTER FORMAT CGM ;
UTILITY SETUP MENU 6 ;
UTILITY SETUP DIALOGUE 3 ;

Note the use of the `;' at the end of each command line. This will have the effect of suppressing the display of the model index which would otherwise occur after the execution of each command. For optimum suppression there should be no `carriage return' at the end of the last line.

Colour map startup file

Another startup file can be used to define the colour palette of the graphics terminal. This file must contain command sequences UTILITY SETUP COLOUR ...... which can be generated from within FEMGV by the UTILITY SETUP COLOUR SAVE command.

Synonym startup file

A third startup file can be used to define command synonyms. This file is described in detail in the customisation section of the User Manual.

The names of startup files are installation dependent and the user should refer to the separate installation notes provided, or consult with his FEMGV distributor. However, in general the startup files will have the following names:

FGVSTR.STR - Command startup file
FGVSYN.SYN - Synonym startup file
FGVCMAP.STR - Colour map startup file
