The following elements should be assigned beam section properties defined using the PIPE, BOX, USEC, or TSEC property type (see FEMGV Version 2 User Manual for details).
CBAR
For example the following FEMGEN commands
PROPERTY PHYSICAL BOX PH1 10 8 1 2
PROPERTY PHYSICAL BOX PH1 ORIENT 0 0 1
Would produce the following LR.STRAND cards:
$ TYPE ID IPROP GRID POINTS ... CBAR 1 1 1 2 0.0 1. 0.0 1 CBARAO 1 FR 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 . . . . . . . . . $ PH1 IPROP IMAT PBAR 1 1 44. 558.667 318.667 545.391 + 5. 4. -5. 4. 5. -4. -5. -4. + .272727 .727273
LR.STRAND uses a local y direction to define beam orientation whereas FEMGEN uses a local z for both definition and display. LR.STRAND users should define beam orientations using the normal FEMGEN conventions (ie the z); the interface program automatically transforms this information into a form suitable for LR.STRAND. The interface program calculates the shear coefficients on card 3.
