Material data is defined using the FEMGEN command 'PROPERTY MATERIAL type', and attached to any part or set in the model using the FEMGEN command 'PROPERTY ATTACH'.
The interface program places the following comment cards at the start of the materials section of the NASTRAN input file.

NASTRAN supports many different types of material property data. These data types are assembled into 'functional groups' under a single material name in order to provide all relevant data for a particular analysis. The interface program supports two material definitions and an external material definition which enables NASTRAN material data to be read from file and automatically inserted into the NASTRAN input file.
