GENERATING BFC GRIDS

All BFC grids for PHOENICS must obey the following rules:-

1.
All cells in 3D grids must be cuboids.
2.
All cells in 2D grids must be quadrilaterals.
3.
The number of cells along the I, J, and K directions within any block must be constant.
4.
The mesh between blocks must be continuous unless the block is a 'many to one' block boundary.

For more details about the requirements of PHOENICSgrid please consult the PHOENICS User Manual. For details about FEMGEN parts such as bodies and surfaces please consult the FEMGV User Manual.

In order to allow FEMGEN to produce such a grid the following rules should be applied when defining any block of a 3D geometry.

1.
All FEMGEN bodies must have 6 surfaces.
2.
All surfaces must be made up of 4 lines or line combinations as defined in the FEMGEN User Manual.
3.
The only permissible element type is HE8 variant 1 (the default).
4.
Number of divisions along each side of a FEMGEN body must obey the IJK regularity rule.

Similar rules apply to the generation of 2D grids.
