PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL [name] part1 dof1 part2 [dof2] [real]

This command is used to apply generalised constraints.The degree of freedom names listed below are the defaults; these may be changed via the FEMGV resource file (see the Installation and Customisation Guide).

name = property name for use in future references.
part1 = name of a point, line, surface or set.
dof1 = coupled degrees of freedom.
1 or X = x-translation
2 or Y = y-translation
3 or Z = z-translation
4 or RX = x-rotation
5 or RY = y-rotation
6 or RZ = z-rotation
XSYMM = x-translation, y,z-rotations
YSYMM = y-translation, x,z-rotations
ZSYMM = z-translation, x,y-rotations
ALL = x,y,z-translations, x,y,z-rotations
XASYMM = x-rotation, y,z-translations
YASYMM = y-rotation, x,z-translations
ZASYMM = z-rotation, x,y-translations
ENCASTRE = x,y,z-translations, x,y,z-rotations
PINNED = x,y,z-translations
NOROTATE = x,y,z-rotations
part2 = name of a point, line or surface.
dof2 = coupled degrees of freedom.
real = see below.

Notes:

1.
Degree of freedom indicator
The degree of freedom may be input as text or an integer. More than one degree of freedom may be referenced at any time. In integer syntax any integer which is a combination of at most five of the digits 1-6 is a valid constraint. In text format a list of degree of freedom names may be entered delimited by spaces or a degree of freedom macro (e.g. XSYMM) may be entered.
2.
Coupling
All nodes lying on 'part1' will have the degrees of freedom 'dof1' coupled to corresponding nodes and freedoms on 'part2'. If 'dof2' is specified, these degrees of freedom in 'part2' are coupled. A value of 'real' different from zero is used to model e.g. shrinkage fits or stiff zones. 'part1' and 'part2' must not have any common subparts. This guarantees that there are no common nodes before the coupling is made by PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL. PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL will cause the generation of appropriate so called MPC-equations for the FE-program at hand.

Examples:

1.
PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL L1 12 L2

x and y translations of L1 and L2 are coupled.

2.
PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL S1 X S2 Y

x translations of S1 are coupled to y translations of S2.

3.
PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL P1 123 P2 123 .022

The x, y and z translations ot P1 and P2 are coupled with a shrinkage factor of .022.
