COMMUNITY OUTREACH

L'Avant-Scène has gained a considerable audience among the Francophone and Francophile communities of Princeton and Central New Jersey. This was achieved through its collaboration with the Agence Consulaire de France à Princeton administered by Dr. Isabelle Darnis-Wilhelm, the Princeton Alliance Francaise, and the Association Francophone de Princeton de Princeton, and its commitment to reach out to local Francophone and Francophile audiences, as well as French programs of the area’s schools and universities. Students of French in the area have regularly attended productions of L’Avant-Scène, and some adult members of the community have been closely associated to L’Avant-Scène as participants of the Community Atelier directed by Florent Masse under the auspices of the Center for French Studies (2004-2008). Teachers of French interested in bringing their students to a performance of L’Avant-Scène are invited to contact the director, Florent Masse at fmasse@princeton.edu .

Starting in 2009-2010, L’Avant-Scène will propose weekend-afternoon-long immersion French theater workshops for children and adults in the community. Anyone interested in this new program should contact Sophie Orloff, a former member of the Community Atelier and the new community liaison for L’Avant-Scène, at lascom.outreach@gmail.com
