· The diagram shows the thermodynamics of a turbojet and indicate that temperature increases occur across the compressor and combustor sections.
· For thermodynamic efficiency it is desirable to have T3 as high as is compatible with the turbine blade material.
· Work is extracted from the gas by the turbine and is used to drive the compressor.
· The gas exiting the turbine is expanded by the nozzle to a high velocity. In a turbofan engine, these gases are shrouded by the bypass air from the fan stage of the engine.
