Phase Diagrams

· Above 1315 C, the system is a liquid of uniform composition: Cu - 50 weight% Ni. (dT/dt) is determined by heat loss to the surroundings.
· At 1315 C the isotherm cuts the liquidus curve at the alloy composition. Two phases are in stable equilibrium, liquid with the alloy composition, and first solid of composition Cu - 67 weight % Ni.
· At 1250 C the isotherm cuts the solidus line at the alloy composition. The solid has the alloy composition and the last liquid the composition Cu -32 weight % Ni.
