Charles Scribner 1840
He founded a company that has published dozens of influential writers,
including Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald ’17, Thomas Wolfe,
and Kurt Vonnegut; his descendants, notably son Charles Scribner 1875,
helped the company flourish and began publication of some of the first
mass-circulation magazines.
