Optimizing the Program's Performance

This interface program will sort results when they are output by ABAQUS out of element or node number order. No sort will take place, and thus maximum speed will be achieved, if all the results are in ascending element or node number order. Results are only produced out of order if the output requests in the ABAQUS input file are by sets of nodes or elements or there are many element types. When results are out of order the interface will be fastest if the element and node numbers are incremental.

Whilst being transferred results are output to file via dynamically allocated buffers. By default the number of buffers and their size has been chosen to optimise results sets that have ten types of result. If large jobs are to be transferred that have many elements and fewer results types or few elements and many results type the speed of the program may be enhanced by changing the default allocations. For details of how to achieve this please contact your support centre.

It must be stressed that this interface will transfer results whatever the order in which they have been output. However, for large data files, using the facts outlined above may significantly increase the speed of the interface program.
