Contact Pair Definitions

Contact pairs are defined by associating contact surface sets definitions (see section 2.12) via the 'PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL' command as illustrated below (see also Example 9.4).

PROPERTY BOUNDARY GENERAL [constr_name] Part1 tie_indicator Part2 [1] [friction coefficient]

Where 'Part1' and 'Part2' are contact surface sets or node sets (see section 2.14) , and tie_indicator is an integer which should be set to 1 for untied surfaces or 2 for tied surfaces. The integer 1 (a dummy argument) and friction coefficient are optional.

Where both sets are contact surfaces 'Part2' will be set to be the master surface and 'Part1' the slave surface. Where a node set-contact surface pair is defined, 'Part1' should be the node set. The versions of FEMGEN To ABAQUS interface prior to 4.101 use a different convention for ABAQUS/Standard contact pair definitions where 'Part1' is the master surface and 'Part2' is the slave surface or the node set.

The command 'LABEL MESH CONST [constr_name] ' can be used to display contact pair definitions.
