Supported Environment Variables

Table A.1 shows some environment variables which, with the exception of the first, no longer need to be used to configure the interface. This can now be done by setting relevant resources by editing the resource file (see section 1.4).

Variable Purpose Options Default
FG_PRE_INT Sets ABAQUS as the default FE Environment. ABAQUS NEUTRAL
(PROPERTY FE ABAQUS becomes unnecessary.)
FG_PRE_VER ABAQUS 4.9/5.2 Input Deck Format Control. 4.9/5.2 5.6
Manages the format changes between ABAQUS 5.3/5.4/5.5/5.6
4.X and ABAQUS 5.X input decks.
FG_PRE_EXP ABAQUS/Explicit and Solver Selection. YES/NO NO (Std)
Manages the Step control changes between SPARSE (Std)
ABAQUS/Standard and Explicit. And allows
SPARSE solver for ABAQUS/Standard to be
selected instead of the default frontal solver.
FG_PRE_FOR ABAQUS '.fil' File Format Control. ASCII/BINARY BINARY
Controls the format of the ABAQUS results ZASCII/ZBINARY

each geometric part (written by default).
FG_PRE_MAT Material and Physical Property Files Directory dir_name None
