Up: Using FEMGEN with PATRAN
Previous: Material Definition and Assignment
The association of physical properties to a part is performed in two stages; the physical property is defined using the command
PROPERTY PHYSICAL GENERAL [physname] 25 reals...
and attached to a geometric part or set of parts via the command
PROPERTY ATTACH partname physname
The interface program will automatically generate PATRAN Neutral file property records.
Beam orientations are appended to an existing physical property definition via the command
PROPERTY PHYSICAL GENERAL [physname] ORIENT 3 reals...
Where the 3 reals define the beam local Z-axis in FEMGEN. The interface program translates this to a beam local y as per the PATRAN convention.
Beam offsets are appended to an existing physical property definition via the command
PROPERTY PHYSICAL GENERAL [physname] OFFSET 6 reals...
Where the 6 reals represent the x,y, and z components of the beam offsets at each end of the part.
Beam orientation and offsets should only be used with beam element variant 2
