2006 OFFICER ELECTIONS & REFERENDA
|
|
Good government depends on an educated electorate. Please take the time to read
the campaign statements and referenda
information and make a well informed decision. Your votes do matter and will be kept
confidential.
For the webform ballot to process, one choice must be made for each slot, whether
to approve, disapprove, or abstain.
NOTE: A vote to 'abstain' is a neutral response, whereas a vote to 'disapprove'
is a vote against the candidate for that position. A candidate running unopposed
must receive more 'approve' votes than 'disapprove', otherwise the candidate running
will NOT be allowed to hold the office.

REFERENDA DETAILS
|

Along with this year's officer elections, the GSG Assembly has decided to hold a referendum on two constitutional amendments related to the annual GSG fee. The fee is currently $5 per academic year. The GSG Assembly feels these proposals are important enough to put through to the student body. It is important that all graduate students read about them and make an informed decision.
- Amendment 1:
- Explanatory Statement: This amendment would increase the annual fee from $5 to $10.
- Amendment 2:
- Explanatory Statement: This amendment would set the fee as a fraction of the average graduate student
stipend, causing the fee to increase annually at the same rate as stipends. The fraction depends on
whether the initial fee should be approximately $5 or $10 as determined by the first proposed
amendment. (In 2006-2007, the fee would be $5.13 and $10.25 respectively – a 2.5% increase.)
